Charter Costs and Terms
Yachts available for Charter are privately owned. The owners set the terms of how their yacht will operate and the costs associated with each trip. CME Yachts will negotiate all terms to guarantee that your Charter is planned in accordance with your preferences.
For your reference, the most common terms and fees associated with Chartering are outlined below:
The Charter Fee includes the hire of the yacht with all of its equipment and the service of the crew, including the Captain, chef, and support crew. The fee includes all expenses and operating costs for the vessel during the Charter, including all food, beverages, fuel, harbor dues, water, electricity, national and or local taxes, customs and dockage fees, and all communication costs incurred by your party. An Advanced Provisioning Allowance, known at the A.P.A, is used to pay for all expenses related to the Charter and will be provided to you prior to your arrival on the vessel. The Captain will periodically update you regarding the usage of the A.P.A funds and any unused funds will be reimbursed to you at the end of the voyage, conversely you will be notified if the A.P.A. fund is not sufficient to support any last minute requests while aboard and you will have the opportunity to make any adjustments required to support the desired requests.
Taxes applied by the local governments in the visiting ports, cruising taxes, or VAT taxes may apply, but CME will provide you will all applicable tax information and will handle all of the details on your behalf.
Gratuities for the yacht crew performance is discretionary, but the standard practice as suggested by the Mediterranean Yacht Brokers Association is to reward anywhere between 5-15% of the base charter rate. This is a general guideline and CME will be happy to assist you in determining the appropriate gratuity for your party.
To reserve your Charter, CME will provide you with a formal agreement once you have chosen the Yacht for Charter and your desired dates and destinations. At that time, you will be required to pay a 50% deposit of the Charter fee. Upon receipt of this fee, the yacht’s owner will counter sign the agreement and the yacht will be reserved for you. The balance, along with the A.P.A. and any other applicable fees will be due 30 days prior to commencement of the charter.
Once your Yacht is reserved, CME will provide you with a preference questionnaire that will outline your food and beverage requirements, itinerary suggestions, recreational preferences, travel arrangements, and any other details so that the crew can customize your voyage. CME will ensure that the planning process is easy and exciting to personalize everything from the moment to step aboard the yacht.
